A blend of rhythms and designs that form a rich, varied, and intricately interwoven artistic picture for everyone to see, hear, and enjoy.
All of the women in Tapestry danced as children. Years later their love of dance, the memories, exercise and camraderie compelled them to return to one of their first loves.
Many Tapestry women have been dancing together for years. The group started eight years ago with six women and since then has grown to over 35 with beginners through advanced level dancers.
Some of their performance pieces include a Sinatra Medley, One Hit Wonder Medley, Wizard of Oz, music from various nations, Hooked on Swing, and a Neil Diamond Medley.
Tapestry performs in the annual dance production for Dance Centers in Reading, PA under the teachings of Michele Schartel. They are expanding their entertainment venues throughout the area, including a cruise ship venture.
Tapestry's motto is: "We don't stop dancing because we grow old...we grow old because we stop dancing!"
Mission Statement: To Provide Students Of All Ages With The Skills They Need To Enjoy The Art Of Dance For A Life Time.
Dance Centers was founded in 1980 based on quality and experienced dance instruction for children and adults in Berks County. It is our belief that all can benefit from dance training whether or not they have professional ambitions. The development of grace, poise, self-esteem, confidence and co-ordination gained through dance will stay with the student throughout their lifetime. In addition to physical skills acquired, students are exposed to artistic expression through dance, while learning and enjoying the various musical elements, an integral part of dance education.
Many friendships and good memories are made, and last, but not least, our students HAVE FUN!
We pledge to keep a high standard of dance education by developing students to better understand and appreciate the art with dignity and respect.
Our policies are intended to insure that every student receives our utmost attention, an opportunity to advance and to support the disciplines so vital to the success of every personal achievement.
We are pleased that you are considering us and we pledge to justify the confidence you place in us.
“We Don’t Stop Dancing Because We Grow Old, We Grow Old Because We Stop Dancing”.
Michele Schartel, Director
*We have an "Open Door Policy" for all observers at any time.
